There's some really rad bouldering problems over there right now. If you're a Touchstone member, it's certainly worth the visit. The route setters must have had fun preparing for the competition, so we all get to enjoy their insane settings and confusing problems.

The stuff I was climbing was between V2 and V3 with an occasional attempt at V4. I'm sadly out of practice, but I can see my improvement every week. I used to be a gym rat, and was up to V5 and V6 until I injured myself. I haven't come back to climbing because I've been really busy, but I am trying to get to the gym more frequently. Hopefully I'll be back to those levels really soon.

Hello I'm new to the tribe and very new to owning my own business. Prior Biz Dev Mgr at HP in Silicon Valley now gone
wind tunnel owner...
It's a totally cool, safe and INCREDIBLE business to experience human flight WITHOUT the danger of skydiving! Check us out at: www.iFlySFBay.com We fly everyone 3yrs to 93yrs!

Here's the question...how do I promote it in the internet space? MySpace? Google Ad's, Yahoo postings? Mass emails?

I am working on a limited budget (like everyone I know...) planning printed ads, news events for the launch, VIP tours, etc but am really not sure about what the "best practices" are for internet publicity?

Any ideas?

Thank you, Kent Sessions

Anyone want to meet to go climbing, either indoors at the gym, or outdoors (if there are any sunny not-too-cold days left in the season)
let me know!

Last night I rode the bike up to Indian rock after reading some little segment somewhere on some random bouldering website. Since it was just me and without a crash pad or belay gear, I just did some mellow routes and goofed around some. It's pretty cool that there is some decent bouldering problems on *real* rock right here in the east bay. I still need to get over to Cragmont to check that spot out.

When on top of the rocks, I saw ONE top-rope anchor on a rusty bolt and a number of busted off bolts and smashed anchors. I'm curious if people actually top rope at Indian Rock and if so, do they just tie off around a rock at the top and do a top-belay?

i am pretty new to climbing. my experience ranges from a few times to indian rock in berkeley and once to lost rocks in klamath. personally i prefer outdoor bouldering, probably because that's all i can afford now, but also because it gives me a chance to be outSIDE! so if anyone is interested in sendin' let me know.

Bouldering @ Ironworks

I'm very new to climbing. (In fact, I've only gone once and that was a year ago!) But I'm also very eager to do it more often. Bouldering caught my interest far more than rock climbing and I'd love to have someone to boulder with on a regular basis; possibly, someone that I can learn from.

I don't know if I'm in the position to pick-and-choose, but if I am: I'd prefer a woman. (No offense, guys.) However, if we hit it off, I'll climb with anyone!

I'm located in North Oakland, probably ~ 15 minutes away from Ironworks by bike.

hey everybody,

i started a new topica e-mail list because i think it's easier to coordinate climbing trips and gym trips via e-mail than tribe. people don't always remember to check this tribe, but they do check their e-mail. hopefully it will be fairly low volume.

also i would like to use it to coordinate a monthly tribe climb night at ironworks with dinner and drinks after. i'm thinking wednesday night maybe.

to subscribe, send an e-mail to: tribe-climbers-subscribe@topica.com

please join this list and let's climb!

hi...
so we (a handful of EBB tribe members and I) have begun to make Monday evening a regular weekly event, anyone else want to come along?
We meet at Ironworks at eight, and get two good hours of bouldering in before they kik us out and close the doors.
If you can make it, try to catch up with us... we usually go out for a pint afterwards.

Phoenix Boulder blast (aka, Bouldering Contest )

I know it is in April of 04 but I wanted to plant the seed for an East Bay excursion to this fun event. It a great get together and party with a little climbing thrown in. It's competitive but low key (unless you are gunning to win the expert category) and should be a blast. So I'm thinking the more the merrier.

I will be going and will spend the next months convincing the plastic pulling monkeys that pulling on sharp volcanic rock is fun.

For more info:

Also there is a great video of the contest at:
been meaning to check out Mission Cliff.
the bouldering only gym in San Jose sounds kinda cool....

anyone checked out more than one gym?

Feel its only appropriate to post me first message after having just climbed for 2 jours in Dallas , posting this from my car with me new wireless laptop!- New policy is to climb at all the gyms I visit on business trips done Seattle and now Dallas - still no gym comes close to Ironworks at least not for bouldering!

Cheers -Ig

when do people(you) climb and/or boulder... and where?

I want this to be a tribe that is active beyond the 'puter screen...
I think it would be cool if people could post when and where they'll be climbing, with enough advance notice so others can try to meet up...
It would be fun to plan a time when a bunch of members could all kik it.
Any ideas?
